“Rom-Coms are not in a good place right now…The chart above–based on figures from Box Office Mojo–shows just how badly the genre has tanked, as inflation-adjusted domestic ticket receipts (left axis) have plummeted despite a huge number of releases (line thickness). At the same time, traditionally male-oriented Superhero movies have seen a meteoric rise. What happened?” - Jezebel

I’m at home recovering from my surgery for a few days and I wanted to write this somewhere.

When they were wheeling me out the nurse was trying to make sure I was well enough to ride in the car so she was making small talk. She asked me about the tattoos on my feet and I gave her the shorthand answer of what they meant. It filled me with a lot of peace to explain “All will endure and all will overcome” to her and at that moment I realized that this very idea got me through this obstacle in my life.

Tattoos are a beautiful and sometimes life saving thing.

fuckyeahfeminists:

how scary is this?

In the first quarter of 2013, states have proposed 694 provisions related to a woman’s body, how she gets pregnant, or how she chooses to end that pregnancy.
A new report released on Thursday by the Guttmacher Institute takes a comprehensive look at how the War on Women has continued past the election cycle and into 2013. It shows that the new legislatures across the country are still very much dedicated to restricting sex education, availability of medication, and abortion access for women. Indeed, 47 percent of the 694 provisions weredirectly related to abortion.

47% of 694? 326.18. I’m sure the other restrictions probably relate to abortion in some way, but if we just look at DIRECT RESTRICTIONS ALONE…We have 50 states. THAT’S OVER 6 PER STATE ON AVERAGE.
These Repubs were elected into office running on JOBS, JOBS JOBS, (and repealing Obamacare). Well, honestly? I’ve checked - and there’s no job creation going on in my uterus.

Bo Burnham on Conan, May 2nd, 2013
-You did a show recently and Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez were in the audience, is that right?
-I didn’t know they were there and I have a bit in my act that sort of makes fun of Justin Bieber and some of these young pop stars.
It’s a song and it mocks bascially the way that those songs are written.
